Despite the fact that you command board rooms and deliver keynote speeches and presentations to diverse audiences, it is surprising how interviews can cause such anxiety and tension.
Many executives I coach are thrown off by a distracted, curt or disengaged interviewer. They interpret the room rather than owning it, and suddenly they are second-guessing every response, becoming hesitant, and their confidence wavers. Sound familiar?
But here’s the truth: most interviewers are not particularly skilled at interviewing, even at the top level.
➡️Do not let the room energy dictate your performance.
➡️Stay professional and resolute, even if the interviewer is not.
➡️Position yourself as the optimal candidate.
➡️Remain calm and deliver your responses with confidence.
➡️Never assume you have failed an interview before it is even over.
Trying to read the body language and actions of an interviewer or questioning the response of a panel member, can set you up to fail, not them. Preparation is key, practising your delivery and maintaining a positive demeanour could be the difference between a rejection and an offer.

Interview coaching with a professional coach can really help to hone your skills and give you valuable techniques to combat nerves. Have you ever experienced this issue in an interview before? if so, share your experience and how you handled it.
